Ana has been drawn to play world No.35 Michaella Krajicek in the first round of the Gaz de France Stars, which begins in Belgium on Monday. It will be the second tournament in succession that Ana has played the Dutchwoman, after she beat her 6-1, 7-6 in Linz this week in what was the pair’s first meeting.
Provided she can overcome Krajicek, Ana will face either a qualifier or German Martina Muller in the second round. In the quarter-finals Ana, who is the sixth seed, could play world No.14 Francesca Schiavone, after third seed Patty Schnyder withdrew. Second seed Kim Clijsters is a possible semi-final opponent in this Tier III event that marks the end of the regular season.

Ana produced an erratic display as she was beaten 6-3, 6-4 by world No.41 Michaella Krajicek in the quarter-finals of the Gaz de France Stars.
The 18-year-old never found her rhythm against the Dutchwoman. Krajicek was far more consistent than the No.3 seed and skilfully took advantage of the many unforced errors Ana made.
Ana did make a bright start. She earned three break points in the opening game as she out-rallied the 17-year-old, but Krajicek saved them all. Ana then played a very indifferent service game and was broken to 15.
Two aces prevented further service breaks in a lacklustre opening set for Ana, who looked tired, which is understandable given that she has played a total of 91 matches in singles and doubles this season.
A lengthy seventh game, won by Krajicek after several deuces, proved pivotal. Ana also got to 0-30 as Krajicek served for the set, but could not capitalise.
It was more of the same at the beginning of the second set as groundstroke errors and some slack net play helped Krajicek gain an immediate break. But credit to the likeable teenager, she played a fine match and never really let Ana back into it.
The world No.14 hit a stunning running forehand when 4-1 down and more aggressive hitting earned several break points. But it wasn't until Krajicek served for the match at 5-2 that Ana clinched her first break.
She saved a match point when serving at 3-5, but Krajicek sealed a one hour, 21 minute victory in the next game with an ace.
Despite the defeat, Ana showed what a consumate professional she is, staying behind to sign autographs before leaving the court.
