After 18 months of cooperation Ana
Invanovic and her coach Zoltan Kuharszky decided to come
apart. The breakup takes place in mutual respect and
without bad feelings. Zoltan wishes Ana the best and is
persuaded that she will become one of the top ten
players soon. Ana Ivanovic herself is grateful for the
experience to be able to have worked with Zoltan. She
consideres the past 18 months as very helpful for her
career. First dialogues with potential candidates are
due during the next days.
Ana has been
drawn against home favourite Marta Domachowska in the
first round of the J&S Cup, which begins in Warsaw
on Monday.
Ana has never before played the
Polish 20-year-old, who is currently ranked 42 in the
world. Given that Domachowska is the highest ranked home
player, the match is likely to take place on the Central
Court.
If Ana wins, she will face her
nemesis, second seed Patty Schynder, whom she has not
beaten in four previous matches, in the second round. It
is a very difficult draw for Ana, who has 88 points to
defend at this clay court event, having reached the
semi-finals here last year.

Ana beat home favourite Marta
Domachowska 6-4, 7-5 to move into the second round of
the J&S Cup.
In what was Ana's first clay
court tournament in 11 months, the Serbian broke the
Pole in the ninth game of the first set then held serve
to seal the opener. Ana went a break down in the second
set, before reeling off five out of the final six games
to seal an encouraging straight sets victory.
Ana will face world No.8 Patty
Schnyder in the second round on Thursday. It will be an
extremely tough match for the 18-year-old, who has not
won a set in four previous meetings with the Swiss.
Ana's first round doubles match,
alongside Maria Kirilenko, has been scheduled as the
fifth match on the Central Court tomorrow. The teenagers
face top seeds Liezel Huber and Martina Navratilova in a
tie that should begin sometime around 6pm Central
European Time.

Ana scored one of the most
important wins of her career so far today, when she
defeated second seed Patty Schnyder 6-3, 6-2 in the
second round of the J&S Cup.
Ana came into the match against
the world No.8 with a miserable 0-4 head-to-head record,
but radiated positivity as she hit a flurry of
breathtaking inside-out forehands during the opening set.
The pair traded breaks in the
fifth and sixth games, before Ana broke again to move
5-3 ahead, crying ‘ajde!’ as she did so. Ana sealed
the set – the very first in nine against the
left-hander – on her second set point.
Schnyder was struggling to cope
with the pace of Ana’s strokes, while the Serbian more
than matched the 27-year-old’s attempts to vary the
play.
Ana maintained the momentum she
had built up in the first set by breaking Schnyder in
the opening game of the second. The game featured an
extraordinary point, in which the 18-year-old twice ran
down smashes by the Swiss, before winning the point when
Schnyder hit a forehand wide.
Impressively, Ana maintained
her control of the match and added another break to seal
the second set 6-2, and with it a comprehensive victory.
The Serbian squealed with delight as she wrapped up her
second victory over a top 10 ranked player so far this
season.
Ana will face with Anna Chakvetadze
in the quarter-finals tomorrow.
05.05.2006
Ana lost her J&S Cup quarter-final against Anna
Chakvetadze. The world No.34 triumphed 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 in
a topsy-turvy match.
Ana began where she had left off against Patty Schynder
in the previous round and raced into a 4-1 lead. Though
Ana wrapped up the opening set, her level began to drop,
perhaps inevitably after the excitement of yesterday's
win. The Russian's confidence soared as she began to
find the corners of the court.
From 2-1 behind in the second set, Chakvetadze reeled
off seven straight games to move 2-0 ahead in the
deciding set. There were no more breaks of serve, and
Chakvetadze sealed victory on her fifth match point,
after Ana had saved four match points in the ninth game.
Ana put
the disappointment of a quarter-final defeat to Anna
Chakvetadze behind her by teaming up with Maria
Kirilenko for an impressive doubles win. The teenage
pairing beat Iveta Benesova and Michaella Krajicek 6-2,
6-3 to move into the last four of the J&S Cup.

From Ana`s diary:
It was a
very eventful week in Warsaw. Of course I was
disappointed to lose to Chakvetadze. It was a strange
match. I made too many mistakes and I didn’t serve
well. Maybe I was a little bit tired emotionally after
the win against Patty. I was so excited about that win.
This is something I have to
learn from. You probably know me a little bit more now,
so you know that I am not a person who gets extremely
upset about losses. I try to stay positive and learn
from the experience.
I am extremely happy about my
game in doubles. I feel that it is improving very well
and I have good co-operation with Maria. I think we have
a good combination of power, covering of the court and
volleying. It was effective this week.
We support each other,
understand each other during the game and get on very
well off the court too, which is important. We will
probably play some more tournaments together this year.
It was a real pleasure to play
in Warsaw because the crowd was so supportive. I think
the Polish people are really into tennis because the
Central Court was full almost every day. It is always
great for the players when we see a big crowd.
Unfortunately I didn’t get
the chance to see much of the city. I was at the club
all day most days, because I was playing in both events.
The organisation was good and the staff were very
hospitable.
There was a gym at our hotel,
which was useful because Pierre and I could do some
conditioning work there. We stayed close to the old town,
which was full of nice restaurants. In the evenings we
would walk around a little bit. That was very relaxing.
One of the best things we did
was visit a very nice Asian restaurant – my favourite!
It was expensive, but I think it was worth it!
All the best
