Ana Ivanovic seeded 8 in the main draw, and here her much does not lucky with draw. Ana her first match will play versus home-crowd favourite Ai Sugiyama (27 number in WTA ranking). 30 years old Ai Sugiyama has play 2 matches in this year and lost the two.
Because she is very dangerous, as she hunger for the first win in home court. Earlier they did not meet.

Announced Ana’s provisional schedule up to Wimbledon. This schedule is provisional and could change at any time.

30.01.2006 It feels great to be back in Japan

After a long flight we arrived in Tokyo. Having to take so many flights is one of the worst things about being a professional tennis player so to keep myself occupied I always carry a book with me. On the plane I read "The Night in Lisbon" by Erich Maria Remarque. It is a very interesting novel about refugees in the Second World War.

     The climate is so different from Melbourne! It is a little bit cold here, about 50F. But it feels great to be back in Japan. This is the first time I'm playing Tokyo but I have very good memories of Japan because two years ago I won two ITF titles here.

     We are staying in the official hotel, which is in the business district. It's a huge hotel. From the higher floors you can see the volcano Mount Fuji, which is a wonderful view.

     Tokyo is a hi-tech city. It feels quite futuristic. It is interesting to see how everything is very organised, especially as there are 12 million people here!

     I should be playing my first round match tomorrow. Today I have a press conference and also the players' party.

31.01.2006 First win

Big-hitting Serbian teenager Ana Ivanovic crushed Japanese number one Ai Sugiyama 6-3 6-0 in what was their first ever encounter.

The eighth-seeded Ivanovic broke unseeded Sugiyama once in the first set and twice in the second set, reeling off eight aces to Sugiyama's one and needing just 45 minutes to dispose of her opponent at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium.

"Of course, her strokes and serves were very good but today it was more a fault with my own game. I self-destructed," said Ai Sugiyama, who appeared sluggish throughout the entire match.

She will next face Russian teenager Maria Kirilenko, who cruised past Italy's Mara Santangelo 6-4 6-1.
