Ana
brilliantly begin match against Tatiana Golovin, immediately having seized initiative in
play, particularly
good Ana play on her service and lead 3:0. Here Golovin
has added and on court was tied the equal fight. At 4:1 Ana
did not be able win brake and Tatiana has shortenned the
score 4:2. But Ana early has considered the set
won, she became more often to mistake and Tatiana use
her mistakes, having intercepted initiative in play, Golovin
shortens the score 5:4. Here already Ana has fight and wrests the victory in set
- 6:4.
In
the second set Ana held three match points at 5-3, 40-0,
but she lost this game and lost the next four
games, moreover basically because of her own
mistakes.
In the
final set Ана has been able to lead 3:0. But she was
again made many unforced errors and score - 3:3.
Ana didn`t worry and fights in spite of
weariness (the match lasted two housr and 19 minutes).
Ana win 6:4
5:7 7:5 and in the next round she will face with Jelena
Jankovic (Serbia-Montenegro).
After
match interview from www.anaivanovic.com
:
I could not wait to come out on the court again.
Especially here in Zurich where I practice often and
where I played so well last year. I always believed I
can win this match and at the end the victory came
through. It was very close, I wasted three match points
in the second set but to her credit Tatiana also played
well. Whenever I dropped my level of play she was there,
threatening.
Every beginning is difficult and after such a long brake
it felt like it was a beginning again. When I come
through such a tough match my confidence grows. I am
sure this experience will help me tomorrow against
Jelena.
I am quite happy competing again and it is a pity that
this season is nearly over. Nevertheless, the most
important thing is that I feel and that injuries are
behind me.
Thank you all for being here even when I had to cancel
the tournaments.
Lots of love
Ana

Ana
go to the 1st semifinal of Tier I tournaments on her
career.
Ana
crushed Slovenia's #1 Katarina Srebotnik to reach her
third semifinal of the year. The match began with a
break of serve in Srebotnik's favour, however it didn't
take Ivanovic long to switch the momentum as she
re-broke in the very next game. Serb raced to a quick
5:2 lead in the first set and won it with only three
games lost.
The second part of the match turned out to
be even easier affair with Ana going 4:0 up and breaking
Katarina's serve in the final game of the match. Anči
is now most likely to play against home favourite Patty
Schnyder to whom she already lost twice this season.
Best of luck and congratulations on this stunning result!
from www.ana-ivanovic.net
After match interview of Ana Ivanovic :
"The
first two rounds in a tournament are definitely the
hardest because you have to find your rhythm. After this
matches you have more self-confidence for the next
matches and everything is getting a little bit easier."
"I’m very happy with my game today. I had some
got shots and played relatively solid. I think I made my
breakthrough last year here in Zurich (Swisscom
Challenge 2004), when I went through the quali and than
won the match against Golovin. It was a great experience."
"The first goal was to become top-50 but now my
goals are much higher after I had won my first title in
Canberra. So I want to become number one."
"I started to play tennis because I liked it and a
little later some people told me that I was talented, so
I started to practise more and now I’m here."
"After the US-Open I had to take a break for about
one month because of my injury (shoulder) but I’m
young and I have enough time to reach my goal."
"To play against Patty (Schnyder) is hard because
her style of hitting the ball is different – she gives
much spin to the ball. I already played twice against
her, so I have an idea of her game and I’m trying to
change my tactic to win the match because the last two
times I made some mistakes."
"I like to play here in Zurich and I think this
tournament is going to stay something special for me.
I’m practising here when I don’t have a tournament
and I have to say that I like it here especially the
lake, the Bahnhofstrasse and the old city."
"I think the most important thing is to get a
completer player that means many things have to improve
especially the mental part. And over the years you have
to get the constancy to stay in the top players."

Unfortunately, the third match against Schnyder
Ana has lost 2:6 1:6.
Schnyder began tentatively
and allowed Ivanovic to dictate play in the early stages.
Schnyder hit a forehand winner off
a return to save a break point when down 2-1, but then
won her third break point in a lengthy fifth game to
lead 3-2. Ana
struggled after that, often under-hitting and making a
succession of unforced errors. After holding to
love, Schnyder then won a second break for 5-2 when
Ivanovic hit a crosscourt backhand volley wide.
Schnyder
mixed her game up well with lobs, slice, drop-shots and
took the set when her opponent put an easy volley into
the net.
Ana
could hardly keep the ball in court at times in the
second set, making a careless backhand error to fall
behind 1-0, before double-faulting to give Schnyder
another break for 3-0. The loss of the set
appeared to take the fight out of Ivanovic and Schnyder
charged through the second with ease.
"I didn't know what to expect from the fans and
was very happy (in the end)," said the Swiss.
