In the second round of tournament Rogers Cup Аnа
win
3 hour match against Russia's Marion Bartoli with score
4:6 7:6(5) 7:6(3).
Matchreport
of DuLeafs (from site wtaworld.com) :
I joined her match at 4-6, 4-1 (sorry), coz it was quite
busy yesterday. I was really surprised Ana lost the
first, so me started to follow her game closely to
figure out what the hell was wrong with her. Noticed
straight away her serve really sucked. Yes, it was very
powerful, but she needed a lot of 2nd serves. Ana’s
strokes weren’t like normal as well. It seemed like
she needed to focus too much to get the balls in the
playing-field, while Bartoli kept on looking for Ana’s
weak backhand.
Poor, poor Anci. Her serve was really necking her in the
second set, let Bartoli come back to 5-5, if I’m not
mistaken. Ana has an amazing talent, but it was
somewhere on the other side of the world yesterday. Both
players asked just somewhere in the end of the 2nd set
for a quick injury time out, couldn’t see what was
exactly going on, but it didn’t looked seriously. The
tiebreak was very close, but Ana managed to take the
first set point at 6-5 and took it to the deciding set.
At that moment the match was already two hours underway.
Ana quickly took a 3-0 lead in the final set, even
though she didn’t played well. Her groundies still
sucked, she was unlucky with some line calls, some balls
went out by just an inch as it seems. What I admire
about her the most, is her positive attitude on the
court, but that was nowhere yesterday. She seemed to be
not happy with herself, which I can imagine. Good thing
for Anci was that the crowd were mostly supporting her,
that must have done her good. Still, Bartoli came back
to 3-3. Her serve was a lot better, but still couldn’t
took much advantage of it, Bartoli handling them pretty
well.
'Off day'- Ana saw the French lady serving for the match
at 5-4, but the gods must have had mercy on her, coz she
broke back due to some nice forehands down the line. It
went to another tiebreak again, where Ana took a solid
6-1 lead to have five match points. Although Bartoli
came back to 6-3, Ana didn’t choke again and won this
three hour match. She seemed to be really relieved she
won when the Serb walked off the court, waving the crowd
just a quick hand but showed a big smile. She was really
balancing on the edge today, I just hope she learned
something of it.

Ana Ivanovic withdrew from the
tournament on Thursday after sustaining a right pectoral
muscle strain on Wednesday. Her withdrawal gave No.7
seed Kim Clijsters a spot in the quarterfinals.
Ivanovic said in a statement: "It
hurt during the doubles match (Wednesday) night, the
best thing I can do now is to get treatment and
hopefully be ready for the U.S. Open."
